About Me

Marie Phillips

Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Welcome! I’m glad you have made your way here. My name is Marie and I am an accredited Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy).  I’m a native English speaker and work with adults for whom English is their first language or preferred second language.

An integrative approach to Psychotherapy allows therapy to be flexible and adaptable, in line with your personal life experiences, needs and expectations. Ultimately, the aim is to promote healing and facilitate wholeness and self-awareness – ensuring that all levels of your being and functioning (mental, physical, and emotional) are maximised to their full potential. I very much encourage collaborative self-exploration to help you become aware of why you feel the way you do, and to find new and more helpful ways of thinking and behaving.

How It Works

  1. I work with adults experiencing emotional problems and maladaptive thoughts and behaviours, including those suffering with addiction and trauma.  I am passionate about Recovery Maintenance i.e. providing strategies and behavioural skills to enable lasting change, no matter what the presenting issue is.  Trauma, abuse, co-dependency, anxiety, depression, poor self-image and shame are some of the many internalised unresolved issues that prevent people from navigating life successfully.    Long-term, the recovery journey must involve a deliberate process of self-discovery, and cultivating the right mental attitude to live a happy life, despite the ups and downs of everyday emotions.

What I Offer

Whatever your reason for seeking counselling or therapy, I believe in a non-judgmental and transformative way of working that is tailored to meet and fulfil your particular needs, at this time of your life. In my experience, lasting positive change really is possible

Addiction

Addiction is a multi-faceted condition which is often measured, in part, by the impact it makes on a person’s quality of life. It is treatable and can be successfully managed.

Trauma

Finding somebody to talk with about your feelings rather than turning to alcohol or drugs, or other addictive behaviour.

Codependency

Codependents will put their energy into helping for others. We need to strive for a balance between helping others and taking care of ourselves.
